What is a Caducceus?

Updated: Jun 1, 2023

The ancients had such a beautiful philosophical way of understanding nature. Science explains much of its detail but could never improve the understanding of the bigger picture. We would like to share with you some of that understanding.

We must visualise a conceptual image, a mental construction of philosophical principles.

The Divine Principle of Nature, the growth imperative, which manifests as a union of the two principles of prime matter and prime energy, the matter of the earth and the energy of the sun. This is the duality of the opposites, the fixed and the volatile, solve and coagula, yang and yin, masculine and feminine combined as one force. The sun is its father and the earth its mother. Nature is the divine child of that union. This is the trinity of our existence.

The Divine principle is the power of Nature, it is the healer’s staff, on which she leans for support in her work.

This is the Caduceus, the staff entwined by the two snakes, one of light, one of dark, the sun and the earth. The two unite to make the staff, which is nature and her produce.

In our work the three philosophical principles are the life force of the plant as the active principle, the solution of alcohol and water as the passive principle and the tincture is the combined result of that union.

We cannot improve on this gift of nature, only accept and use its power.
